What is TMS Therapy?

TMS, in short, is a treatment modality recommended by the American Psychiatric Association since 2010 and FDA cleared since 2008 for the treatment of major depressive disorder.

TMS does not affect cognitive functioning such as memory compared to other treatment options such as ECT. TMS is free from common antidepressant drug side effects such as weight gain and sexual disfunction.

The Effectiveness of TMS

What is Major Depressive Disorder?

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common mental condition. According to the World Health Organization, globally more than 300 million people of all ages suffer from depression. Statistics by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) indicates that more than 17 million U.S. adults – over 7% of the population – had at least one major depressive episode in the past year. More women than men are affected. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide.
